May 10, 2020:
We are now two full months into sheltering in place and providing service under the many challenges presented by COVID-19. Our staff and managers have been extraordinary in their efforts to keep Hot Cookie open and providing a little slice of normal during all of this. But it’s time for them to get a much-needed breather… so this week we are reducing hours to allow them a little time to recoup and re-energize. We will still be baking daily and taking online orders as well as being open for takeout, just with a smaller window. We appreciate your understanding and continued support! Your smiles and patronage have fueled us so far and we will continue to put something sweet in your mouth!
April 20, 2020: We are all in this together. Glad to be living in CA where Gov Newsom and Mayer Breed are doing an outstanding job focusing on working through the day-to-day challenges.
We as Hot Cookie continue to be open delivering a piece of normalcy to our San Francisco and US based customers. We have stabilized our staffing to where we can have both stores open from 11-9pm. We appreciate all the support our customers are giving us through these times.
March 31, 2020: Hoping this continues to find you well as we are in our third week of shelter in place.
As you can see from our homepage, we have made the decision to reduce our hours at the Castro store. Many employees have contacted us and said that they are unable to work. We have consolidated operations in our Polk store for this week as it is easier to manage the social distancing requirements in this location.
We are also requiring all our employees to wear face masks. Our goal is to have the Castro store open for the weekend.
March 25, 2020: First and foremost, we hope that this message finds you and your loved ones healthy and safe during all that is going on in the world right now as a result of COVID-19.
As a family business, we often talk about the “Three Cs” that matter to us – Cookies, Customers, and Community. For 23 years, we have served tasty treats and built a loyal following of amazing customers while supporting our local community. Our customers and their enthusiasm are what has made Hot Cookie what it is today. You have our deep appreciation.
Like so many businesses, we are adapting to this new reality on a daily basis. Hot Cookie continues to operate as of right now in both our Castro St. and Polk St. locations. We are also delivering cookies locally and shipping cookie care packages nationwide. We have enhanced our existing health and safety guidelines and work policies to minimize any potential risk to our employees and our customers. We have had to reduce our hours this week as we reworked our staffing based on their availability. We will continue to support and employ our amazing staff for as long as possible. We plan on staying open so that we can continue “putting something sweet in your mouth” – along with a healthy dose of our signature Hot Cookie fun and raciness!
As we all hunker down, shelter in place, and practice the necessary social distancing it is more important than ever to stay positive and connected. Cookies aren’t going to solve the current crisis. But we hope that by staying open, Hot Cookie can provide some comfort to our customers with a familiar favorite treat that brightens your day. Or offer you an easy way to let someone you can’t be with in person know that you are thinking of them right now and hopefully make them smile.
We’re working on creative ways to help our customers stay engaged, smiling, and connected during these challenging times. You are our community. We are all in this together and by working together, we believe we will make it through this together.
